To protect your teeth after vomiting, rinse your mouth thoroughly with water or a fluoride mouthwash. Avoid brushing immediately, as this can further weaken the enamel. Wait at least 30 minutes to brush. You can also use a baking soda rinse (one teaspoon of baking soda in a cup of water) to help neutralize the acids.
Dietary Changes
Pregnancy often comes with changes in dietary habits, including increased cravings for sugary foods. Frequent snacking on sugary items can increase the risk of tooth decay. Try to choose healthier snacks, such as fruits, vegetables, cheese, or nuts. If you do indulge in something sweet, brush your teeth afterwards or rinse your mouth with water.

A consistent and thorough oral hygiene routine is your best defense against pregnancy-related dental problems. Brush your teeth at least twice a day with fluoride toothpaste, paying attention to the gumline. Floss daily to remove plaque and food particles from between your teeth.

Regular check-ups with your dentist are important during pregnancy. Let your dentist know that you are pregnant so they can tailor your treatment plan accordingly. Routine cleanings can help remove plaque and tartar buildup, preventing gingivitis and periodontitis. Your dentist can also provide guidance on managing morning sickness and dietary changes to protect your teeth. Dental X-rays are generally avoided during pregnancy, but if they are necessary, your dentist will take precautions to minimize radiation exposure.
